Compared to last year, the Rally course had been radically redesigned; 8 out of 12 SS waved through the mountains West of Cluj in the „Fântânele” area, 2 other SS North of Cluj through a former orchard – a great run with very fast stretches, jumps and lots of tight corners. Two other sandy SS were South of Cluj, with wide roads and lots of room to drift through corners.
The Ţara Bârsei Rally was split this year between Covasna and Braşov. The tracks around Covasna were all in excellent shape and so were the ones in Braşov between Săcele and Azuga resp. Predeal – they had been fixed and no longer had all the last year’s bumps and potholes.
The Sibiu rally is the toughest gravel rally of the season: the Special Stages (SS) are in the Păltiniş area and the roads are to almost no exception rocky and bumpy, leading through forests and fields, dotted with huge potholes that one would normally drive around at merely walking speed.
The Cluj rally is one of the most beautiful rallies of the season. The Special Stages (SS) lead through the mountains towards Fântânele, Mărişel and Dângău. The routes are close to each other, so that one will not lose too much time during the intermediate stages. As in the previous year, additionally to the classic routes, a showdrive on the Cora parking lot was introduced, made up of four slalom rounds.
Rallye Hunedoara is one of the fastest Rallies of the Season. The Special Stages take place on locked asphalt streets between Deva and Hunedoara, as well as Hunedoara and Hasdat / Haget / Toplita. Some of the streets are recently tarred, that means very slippery; the unrenovated streets are partial very ripply and with lots of bumpiness.
The Banat Montan Rally is leading through the mountains in the southern part of Reşiţa heading for Anina-Steierdorf, Oraviţa and Bozovici. The roads are very fast; the greatest challenges are the curves with pebbles on the newly asphalted streets and the bad conditions of the „old“ streets.
This year the Braşov Rally is again the anacrusis of the season. Compared to last year, some of the special stages had been changed. The downhill racing from Poiana Braşov to Braşov was introduced for the first time in the program. Similarly the Pârâul Rece track had to be driven in both directions.
